The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) killed a leader of the ADF-MTM terrorists in Mwalika, in the territory of Beni in North Kivu. This announcement was made this Tuesday, August 22 in Goma.
“This leader was neutralized during a mixed patrol between the FARDC and the UPDF, in this part of the territory of Beni”, they announced in a press release.
Clashes between the army and rebel troops are not the only dangers to be feared in the east of the country. The bandits armed with firearms also make incursions from time to time in cities, towns, districts and avenues.
In the Lac Vert neighborhood, for example to the west of Goma, armed robbery operations are spreading terror among the population.
“Thugs murdered a man and injured two other wells took away several valuables. The operation began around 1 a.m. They took away several belongings of the citizens until they shot a man in his sixties. His body was taken to the morgue at CBCA Hospital. They tortured people and wounded others with machetes. The victims are in the hospital for proper care,” said the head of the Lac Vert district, Dedesi Mitima.
Some streets deprived of public lighting are transformed in the evening into a crime scene. The urban authorities intend to intensify the patrols in order to silence its practices in this city quite threatened by the repercussions of the gunshots.
“The army managed to recover 3 weapons of war including a PKM machine gun, 5 civilian-type Motorolas, pharmaceutical products and other military effects,” revealed the FARDC military officers.
The base chiefs asked the authorities to strengthen security measures in this entity and the population to remain vigilant and united to help in the event of an incursion. The army also announces the continuation of excavation operations on the morning of this same Tuesday, especially in all the gaps in this Mwalika valley.
