During a press briefing held on Monday, July 31, devoted to culture, the government spokesman, Patrick Muyaya fixed Congolese opinion on several issues, in particular the rapprochement between Brazzaville and Kigali which caused a lot of ink to flow and saliva in the head of the Congolese of Kinshasa .
To dispel any misunderstanding, the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya stressed that each country is sovereign and free to have its diplomatic strategy.
“Whether Congo Brazzaville or the Central African Republic gets closer to Rwanda, we as a country respect their choice. Here, we must understand the frustration of the rest, justified or understandable, of the Congolese when they believe that because of our proximity to Congo Brazzaville, they cannot get closer to Rwanda in this context. That is a Congolese opinion which has been expressed and which is justified, it must be respected because we are in a democratic framework where citizens have the right to express themselves on the general situation of the country, including in this happening in the sub-region,” explained Patrick Muyaya.
In this way, the government spokesperson condemned insults and discourteous remarks towards a quidam or towards a Head of State.
“What the Congolese need to remember is that we in the DRC, we are the largest country in the region. We have 9 neighboring countries and these countries are dependent on us. You know that in the relationship between States, there are only interests, there are no friendships. What we are doing under the leadership of the President of the Republic is precisely to rebuild our diplomatic apparatus,” he said.
According to Patrick Muyaya, the holding of the 9th Francophone Games, which was fought against, is diplomatic proof that the DRC has regained its place in leadership on climate issues.
In the aftermath of the State visit made by the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso to Kigali in Rwanda, as well as the agreements for the transfer of Congolese agricultural land to Rwandans, indignation was observed in the DRC, precisely in Kinshasa. In social networks in Kinshasa, several Internet users have criticized President Denis Sassou Nguesso for this rapprochement with Rwanda in conflict with the DRC.
