Makindye West Member of Parliament, Allan Ssewanyana — a member of Bobi Wine’s NUP party (pictured right) — has been charged with terrorism following a revised charge sheet issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions, which excludes the late MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.

On Monday, Ssewanyana appeared before Judge Alice Komuhangi Khauka alongside Mike Sserwadda, Jackson Kanyike, Bull Wamala, and John Mugerwa. They were all read new charges.

According to ChimpReports, Ssewanyana is accused of aiding and abetting terrorism.

The prosecution claims that between January and August 2021, in the Rakai and Masaka districts of Kampala, Ssewanyana — allegedly armed and with political, social, or religious motives — directly participated in or facilitated the killings of Kizza Mugerwa, Sulaiman Kakooza, and Tadeo Kiyimba, and the attempted murder of Ronald Sebyoto, all residents of Ssettaala village.

State prosecutor Richard Birivumbuka requested the court to convict the accused of murder, attempted murder, and terrorism-related charges. However, Judge Komuhangi stated the court would review the evidence and deliver a ruling in August.

These new charges come after Ssewanyana accused fellow MP Mathias Mpuuga of orchestrating his arrest in the same case.
