In Kisangani, six people lost their lives and seven others were injured after a lightning strike hit a local market in Mangobo commune.
The tragic incident occurred at Balese market on the evening of last Saturday, during a severe thunderstorm, according to a report from Radio Okapi.
The Mangobo commune administrator, Constant Bolamba Saile, explained how the event unfolded and shared the planned response for the victims and their families.
Constant Bolamba Saile stated:
“As of now, six people have died and seven survived. When the rain began to intensify and cause panic, lightning struck thirteen individuals.”
He added that together with other authorities, they are working on measures to support those hospitalized and assist the families of the deceased.
