Iran plans to request assistance from Russian President Vladimir Putin in upcoming talks scheduled to take place in Moscow on Monday, as the nation seeks diplomatic and military support amid escalating tensions with Israel.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, told NBC News that Iran is willing to engage in dialogue with Western countries, but insists that Israel must first halt its airstrikes.
Araghchi accused the United States of using negotiations as a cover to continue supporting Israel, and criticized Donald Trump’s administration for undermining international consensus.
He said:
“We do not trust the United States. What the Trump administration is doing is undermining the path to peace.”
Iran is under increasing pressure due to Israeli airstrikes, with local media reporting that over 600 people have died from these attacks within the past week.
Iran hopes that Russia, as a key ally in the region, will intervene to stop Israeli attacks and help preserve its sovereignty. The upcoming talks are expected to focus on military cooperation, political coordination, and resolving the growing conflict between the nations.
This meeting comes as the international community continues to urge Iran, Israel, and the United States to de-escalate the violence and pursue diplomatic solutions.
