Reports from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) reveal shocking claims that the family of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi is allegedly offering $20,000 (approximately Rwf 29 million) to silence the family of a nightclub worker who was recently shot dead by his son, Anthony Tshisekedi.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred last Saturday night at Nuovo Nightclub located in Gombe, a wealthy district in Kinshasa. Sources indicate the nightclub is owned by the son of Bahati Lukwebo, the former President of the Congolese Senate.
According to investigative journalist Steve Wembi, who shared the details on X (formerly Twitter), Anthony, who often refers to himself as “The Prince of Congo”, allegedly caused chaos at the venue after encountering an ex-girlfriend who was there with another man. Moments later, he is said to have opened fire, killing a staff member on the spot.
Reports further suggest that the Tshisekedi family has since reached out to the victim’s relatives, offering $20,000 as compensation in an effort to keep the case quiet. Witnesses also claim several other patrons were assaulted and seriously injured during the confrontation.
If confirmed, the incident would mark one of the most controversial scandals to hit the Congolese presidency in recent years, raising questions about impunity and accountability at the highest levels of power.
