Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, on Friday appointed new military commanders to replace those who were killed in Israeli attacks on the country.
The Iranian Army’s Central Command Headquarters in Tehran was among the targets hit during the early Friday morning strikes.
Those killed include Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami, who was the Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, the Commander of the Ground Forces.
Following their deaths, Iran’s military announced that Khamenei appointed Major General Mohammad Pakpour as the new Chief of the Armed Forces and Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi as the Commander of the Ground Forces.
The Supreme Leader stated that he trusts the new appointees to avenge their fallen comrades and make Israel pay the price for its actions.
