The Kenya National Police Service (NPS) has announced the arrest of four individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were.

In the latest reports, police confirmed that investigators tracked down the four suspects at the crime scene, where crucial evidence was also recovered.

“Following an analysis of additional evidence previously obtained, officers from the National Police Service swiftly launched an operation and apprehended four individuals suspected of having been at the crime scene,” said Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

He added that detectives uncovered significant evidence directly linked to the crime and its perpetrators.

According to details reported by The Star, a Kenyan news outlet, some of the suspects are believed to be members of organized criminal gangs operating in Eastlands, a southeastern neighborhood of Nairobi.

“Some of the arrested suspects are followers of organized criminal gangs that operate systematically in the Eastlands area, including the ‘Mjahidin’ gang, known for armed robberies,” Nyaga disclosed.

The police urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors, assuring that detectives were working diligently to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.

Authorities further advised anyone not directly involved in the investigation to refrain from making speculative statements that could interfere with ongoing efforts to bring those behind MP Were’s killing to justice.
