Rwandan Karate legend master and INES -RUHENGERI co-founder, Faustin Musanganya, has accused the Catholic Church, Ruhengeri Diocese of ruling the the well know university located in northern Province, using the iron fist while trumping on his rights to access all necessary documents to get the real image of the institution, following his ten years absence.
Musanganya narrated to this newspaper that following the Musanze High Court ruling last year that Musanganya was illegally dismissed from the membership of INES-RUHENGERI as a co-founder, he requested Ruhengeri Catholic Diocese Bishop and Legal Representative of INES-RUHENGERI, Mgr Harolimana Vincent, to give him different reports showing the performance of the institution.
He says ‘” It has been ten months since I wrote a letter to Bishop Harolimana Vincent requesting those reports (hard and soft copies) but in vain. There have been two meetings to decide on the same matter yet nothing yield.”
Musanganya says the first meeting was chaired by Bishop Harolimana Vincent in Kigali in July 1st, 2022 and another one at INES-RUHENGERI, but no feedback provided.
” We went to Kigali to discuss only this issue. They told me to go out for a while so that they can decide freely the matter, when I was told to enter again they said that Bishop Harolimana Vincent will send the letter to me with feedback.”
The copy of the letter we have states that ” Musanganya should remove our worries on this matter.”
The letter also highlights the issue that student from INES-RUHENGERI wrote the letter to Bishop Harolimana Vincent, protesting the return of Musanganya Faustin as a co-founding member.
To answer the letter, Musanganya says he told Bishop Harolimana Vincent that ” I had no idea on the conclusion of last meeting though you wrote to me basing on it.”
After July meeting, BWIZA interviewed Bishop Harolimana Vincent, on this issue, specifically asking why Musanganya is being denied access to these reports , He said “Musanganya was also in the meeting, ask him.”
Regarding the habitual Musanganya ousting during the meeting, the bishop said ” In some cases when the discussion is related to someone, they even themselves request to go out so that the rest discuss freely.”
Commenting on the same matter , Musanganya accuses Ruhengeri Catholic Diocese of ruling INES-RUHENGERI as own farm with iron fist.
” I don’t know why they are denying me the right to access the reports. I suspect there could be something wrong they did. Our internal regulations allow the members of general assembly to have them and I think this is how it is to other members but why me?” He asked
Playing dirty using students
” We need to be on the same page if we fully want the progress of INES-RUHENGERI. I want to work together with them. What will be the point of attending the meetings while I can’t share my views due to not knowing what is going on? Just sitting there? I cannot do that. They dismissed me from the institution and Court of laws declared their decision illegal. Now they are involving students in this case..”
” Students have nothing to do with the matter. They had better just focus on their studies. INES-RUHENGERI leadership have opted to use this dirty tricks of hate. I shall seek justice on the matter if nothing is done. Other independent bodies should come to investigate what is wrong with this institution in leadership and finance. He added
” Let me give you an example, Ruhengeri Catholic Diocese was the original co-founder but now it was deleted, and another name was registered instead. Some people illegally were registered to name a few. Ruhengeri Catholic Diocese is running INES-RUHENGERI as if it their own farm with some people that I call parasites that have turned the university into own profit hunting ground.” He emphasized
The internal wrangles have come to light one day before there is a general assembly meeting on Tuesday.
