Comedian Aboudurkalim Mwitende, popularly known as Burikantu, who works with his colleague Buringuni, has addressed the allegations surrounding an explicit video circulating on social media said to involve him.
Last week, various social media platforms began circulating claims that there is a video showing comedian Burikantu performing oral sex on a woman.
Upon checking the accounts sharing these claims, they all featured a photo showing a man seemingly performing oral sex, although the woman’s genitals are concealed in the image.
As the rumors continued to spread, Burikantu broke his silence and made a public statement concerning the alleged explicit footage.
Speaking on Radio Umwezi during the program “Freaky Friday,” the comedian strongly denied any connection to the explicit video.
When asked by the journalist if he is the person seen in the footage, he firmly responded that he is not.
“That’s not me in the video,” he stated.
Explaining the resemblance between him and the man in the video, Burikantu said the person might look like him, but it’s not him. He also pointed out that the man in the video is wearing an earring, while he never wears any.
He added that he himself has seen the footage being attributed to him on social media but confirmed again that it is not him in the video.
The comedian further emphasized that people should not fall for dirty tactics used by malicious individuals in Rwanda’s entertainment industry, who aim to tarnish others’ reputations to push them out of the spotlight.
