Reports from EAC based newspapers especially from Rwanda and DRC indicate that on Monday morning, heavy gunfire exchange was still going in Kibumba zone as FARDC wanted to control the strategic town and its outskirts.
Our source in DRC said the fire continued and intensified at midday up to evening that ended M23 rebels capturing Bambo military barracks.
Bambo is located at western part of Rutshuru town, 45 km away.
During the fight, It is alleged that the rebels have captured Lt Col Assani, commander of 243 batallion of national army.
Reports also has it that one Lt Gen Alain was shot in the arm, sustaining minor injury.
Other sources say M23 rebels burnt arsenal found in Bambo military barracks.
Both sides have not yet made a statement regarding the matter.
