Aimable Nzizera, the manager of Rwanda Gospel Stars Live event, who invited a Tanzanian gospel star Rose Muhando to perform in the ‘Praise & Worship Live Concert’ gave a bouncing bank cheque to the Classic Hotel/Kigali branch where she had been staying for six days, together with her duo dancers.
According to the hotel management, Muhando and her dancers arrived at Kigali International Airport on March 4, 2022, two days before the concert that was scheduled to take place on March 6 and directly headed to the hotel.
The management says the singer and the dancers left the hotel on March 9, at the moment, Nzizera was supposed to responsibly pay the total bill equal to 1,277,500 Rwandan Francs (Rwf) as promised before.

The Classic Hotel’s Communication Officer, Jean Paul Nkundineza explains to Bwiza.com that usually, all the customers have to pay for bill before one day to leave, however the case of Muhando was different. “That is different case with Rose Muhando who was brought by the group led bya Aimable, who just organized the concert, and had to pay Rwf 1,277,500 for she and the dancers.” He said.
“Their time to go came, and however, we were not informed that they would use the bank cheque for payment. Even if the bank account may have enough balance, the procedure for payment with cheque is declared before, so that the management of hotel may agree or deny.” Adds the Communication Officer.
A bouncing bank cheque
By effect, the management of hotel was confused at the moment, and asked itself for who to pay for the bill and surprisingly, Aimable signed the bank cheque, dated March 9. “The confusion ended because of the cheque received from Aimable, when he came to take back Muhando to the airport on March 9 payment; therefore, the management replied that he couldn’t go with the singer. He directly signed the cheque, dated that day.”

The hotel further explains that because the bank cheque (named after Rugamba Construction and S Ltd owned bya Aimable) was dated that day, it believed the management could withdraw as signed. However in the the afternoon, the bank revealed that the account of this company is inactive since 2017 and it has no enough balance.
That day, the hotel says it called Aimable and informed him all about the issue, and gave a second chance to pay the bill, however he didn’t do so. The conclusion was to direct to the bank’s branch in the Grand Pension Plaza, that stamped the cheque to confirm that it is ‘Unpaid.’

By the phone call interview with Bwiza.com, Nzizera denies the issue. “Where do you get those stuffs from? Those stuffs you say never happened.” He tells the editor. And finally admits, “We had already fixed the issue. It was, when your account has a problem like for instance, when it was desactivated, I don’t know what was going with the account. They told us to go there, we fixed it [the issue) and it ended. So, I don’t understand why you feel there is a problem.”
“It sometimes happens with the payment; you may sign a cheque, maybe its not paid due to the problems between the customer and the bank. You may find that there is no balance or you may sign incorrectly. So, when it happens as results, you may have an agreement or pay. They [the hotel] called me and we fixed the issue.” Adds Nzizera.
However, the hotel says after notifying Nzizera about the issue, he paid Rwf 400,000 of the bill and agreed to pay the rest for two installments. Hotel threatens to report him to the investigation bureau, if all bill is not paid by April 21.
