American investor Allen Michael Bechky, accuses Rwandan citizen Gilbert Iradukunda of stealing his piece of land located in Kinigi sector, Musanze district.
Mr. Allen is normally the owner of Villa Gorilla Hotel located in Kinigi. The Hotel was recently inaugurated and started services delivery.
He says that he used to send money to Mr. Iradukunda whom he had tasked to buy pieces of land in the name of Villa Gorilla company, but the later decided to take one part of the land and registered it under his name.
The two former friends are now in disputes over a small part of land surrounded by the Hotel’s buildings, with Allen asking how his former employee managed to buy the land which is inside of his hotel.
BWIZA understands that despite the fact that Gilbert Iradukunda bought the said land before taking one part of it, he is also the one who was the foreman during the construction of Hotel’s buildings before becoming its manager.
It’s not the first time Gilbert Iradukunda and Allen Michael Bechky dispute over Villa Gorilla Hotel and related properties.
The later says that Iradukunda once attempted to impersonate his hotel after he had sent him USD 120,000 of purchasing plot of land and construction materials, before getting justice he decided to seek from Commercial High Court based in Kigali.
Mr. Allen who is thankful to Rwandan justice for having managed to be fair to him, asks for the same treatment during the second trial with his defendant; since he considers what Iradukunda did as fraudulence.
Jean Claude Ruzindana, the former owner of the said land told this publication that he sold it to Gilbert Iradukunda, but he says that he does not know whether he was buying it for other people.
Mr Ruzindana adds that Iradukunda even recruited him when the construction activities began, he however emphasizes that he does not know much about him.
Iradukunda on another side was asked whether the land he is accused of impersonation belongs to him, but decided not to comment on the case.
Allen Michael Bechky and Gilbert are to return to Court on Thursday this week.
