Kanyabutembo Virginie, The US based Rwandan and her children say the only man who can save them from what they term injustice, corruption in their case in Rwanda’s courts is President Paul Kagame.
The family told this newspaper that the injustice they face is based on the fact that several judges who presided over their property-related case, never do they conduct an investigation to be well familiar with it.
They claim it due to this fact, the family accuses judges to be biased and want to hand their properties- a plot of land and a house located in Rubavu City, to one, Rugamba Xavier who once Kanyabutembo’s husband, who illegally registered them under his name.

The development comes after the Court Appeal rejected Kanyabutembo’s case. She wanted to remove the ownership of the properties under Rugamba, for she claims they are hers for about 17 years.
The family says only President Kagame can save them from this plight for courts has so far twisted the truth, witnesses and some local authorities’ testimonies were neglected.
Kanyabutembo and her lawyer, Theophile Twizeyimana, says Musanze High Court in a case number ruled over some points that were not included in the case and even confused some names involved.
” The court based on nothing to announce the verdict. My mother was given a plot of land from former Gisenyi Prefecture (current Rubavu) as a single mother. But the court decided that father also has a share on it. We have evidences of the land ownership.” Kanyabutembo’s son, Rugamba Pacifique told this newspapaer
“The Court of Appeal’s decision was based on the point that we did not raise in our appeal. It is really frightening to see how the truth is twisted. This is total injustice.” Kanyabutembo said
Kanyabutembo believes Kagame will intervene to save them from this calamity which may leave ” My six children, 11 grandchildren homeless, their properties taken away.”
” I would like to request President Kagame to save us and help me get back my properties.” She said
Neighbors, relatives to both Kanyabutembo and Rugamba Xavier narrated to this newspaper that they all know that Rugamba Xavier is not either the owner of a plot of land or he did contribute in the house building. Brother to Rugamba Xavier, Kaganantagara John says he sold his inheritance as a single man, without knowledge of his children or his former wife Kanyabutembo. Meanwhile, documents from local authority indicate that Rugamba is of single status though he gave birth to six children!
