EAC leaders emphasize the need to cease hate speech against those perceived to be Rwandans in DRC

The regional leaders met in Nairobi, Kenya yesterday have emphasized the need to halt all the offensive language, hate speech and threats of genocide against those though to be Rwandans in DRC.

The statement released after the meeting says ” The Heads of State also emphasized that all offensive language, hate speech, threats of genocide and politically inciting language must cease and must be discouraged by all parties”.

” People of DRC must be encouraged to work together in order to stabilize the eastern DRC for it prosper.” It adds.

The lives of Tutsi in DR Congo are in great danger as they continually become targets by machete-wielding mobs threatening to kill them.

Cell phone footage from the streets of cities in eastern DRC circulating on social media show attacks on individuals perceived to be Rwandans.
