Only one Sector namely Nyabirasi has not yet got electricity amongst 13 that make up Rutsiro District.
The Sector, according to the residents, has suffered a big loss in terms of social and economic development.
Some told media that they have to got about two hours to reach in Rubavu District to access services which requires electricity.
” We are in high need of electricity, we cannot go to saloon, milling maize, etc. We have to travel two hours ” Miriam Bambanze one of the residents said
” It is very dark here during night. Sometimes crimes are committed due to lack of electricity.” Another resident, Marceline Uwimbabazi complemented
Emerance Ayinkamiye, Mayor of Rutsiro District said locals do not have to loose their hope for there is a plan to bring electricity in June next year.
