President Paul Kagame has promoted Patrick Karuretwa to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed head of the international military cooperation, according to the statement from Rwanda Defence Forces dated November, 5
Now a general, Karuretwa served as personal secretary for president Kagame and in 2016, the then Lt Col was appointed an advisor to the commander In Chief.
The position was given to one Irene Zirimwabagabo this year and Karuretwa appointed chief of operations in RDF second division located in northern Rwanda.
The rapid rise in ranks of Karuretwa is vividly clear. He was in 2020 promoted to full Colonel and in 2021, a Brigadier General.
